The IB External Examinations
The IB external exam is given twice a year, in May and in November. The external exam is considered one of the most crucial parts in determining the overall mark received by an IB diploma/certificate candidate. Reviewing for the external exam is essential in achieving a desired IB score. The IB external exam accounts for 70 to 80% of a candidate’s IB score.
Eureka offers extensive review program for the IB external examinations both for Higher and Standard Levels. Subjects include Math HL/SL, Physics SL/HL, Chemistry SL/HL, Biology SL/HL, Psychology SL/HL, Business SL/HL, and Economics SL/HL. Eureka’s Review Program for the External Exams is a comprehensive two-month long program covering two years of the IB program.
TOEIC or the Test of English for International Communications started as a standardized test to measure two (2) major academic skills in English: the Listening and Reading skills. In 2006, the TOEIC test became more comprehensive and broader in scope, thus, the other two (2) academic skills in English were introduced: the Speaking and the Writing skills. The exam is designed to reflect actual English usage in the workplace, though they do not require any knowledge of specialized business terms. Each test has a score range between 0 and 200, with test takers grouped into eight proficiency levels.
Eureka’s TOEIC review program exposes students to common terms and expressions the student needs in order to respond to actual questions. Hundreds of passages are available so that students can practice for as much as they want. The student is also required to take comprehensive computer-aided practice tests as well as lectures to familiarize him/her with common question types found in the test.

The acronym AP stands for Advanced Placement. The AP offers college level curriculum and examinations to high school students. College Board, a group of expert educators, handles AP in the United States and Canada.
Eureka! offers review for the following Advanced Placement Exams:
Because of the inherent difficulty of AP subjects, it is recommended that the student reviews at least two months prior to the schedule of his/her exams to provide enough time to cover all the necessary topics.
Eureka's students have achieved distinction after reviewing at Eureka. One of Eureka's students, Peter Hyung of MIT, scored a "“5 in AP Calculus BC. This is the highest mark achievable in AP.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (abbreviated IGCSE) is an internationally recognized curriculum for students, typically in the 14–16 age groups. The IGCSE was developed by University of Cambridge International Examinations in 1985. The examination board Edexcel offers its own version, the Edexcel IGCSE. The term “IGCSE” is the registered trade mark of the University of Cambridge and is used under licence.
Eureka’s IGCSE program consists of a series of qualifying examinations that the students should pass in order to prepare for the actual test. The IGCSE is often used to prepare students in taking more academically rigorous programs such as the AP or IB.
Eureka’s IGCSE review program is based on the actual past IGCSEs. The exercises help tutors pinpoint areas of concern and specific topics that the a student finds difficult. The tutor then addresses these concerns by providing more exercises that will reinforce understanding.

Like the TOEFL, the International English Language Testing System or the IELTS* is another type of international standardized test that measure the English Language proficiency of individuals. It was established in 1989 and is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education. The IELTS has two (2) versions: The Academic Version and the General Training Version.
Eureka offers review for both versions of the IELTS. The academic version is required for students who want to take their undergraduate studies while the IELTS General Training Version is a common requirement for professionals such as nurses who want to practice their professions in English-speaking countries including Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. The center offers computer-based exercises and complete practice exams to provide familiarity to those who need to achieve a certain band score either for the purpose of admission to university or for employment purposes. The listening part of the IELTS exposes the students to audio exercises complete with transcripts that are similar to those found in the actual tests.
Eureka is the only IELTS center offering one-on-one instruction to students. It also offers the most number of simulation exams to provide students with ample practice and training.
AS PER THE NUMBER OF TEST TAKERS, THE IELTS IS WORLD’S MOST POPULAR ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST FOR HIGHER EDUCATION AND GLOBAL MIGRATION.

The New Generation TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language, internet-based test) evaluates an individual’s ability to understand and use English in an academic setting. This standardized test is commonly required by colleges and universities in the US for non-native speakers who wish to pursue an undergraduate course in an American university. At the same time, it is a common measure of English proficiency used by numerous business institutions, government agencies, and scholarship programs.
Eureka’s TOEFL program includes multiple simulation exams and coaching from experienced TOEFL tutors who guide the students and acquaint them with important test takings skills needed in order to increase their scores. The TOEFL simulation test given to the students accurately gauges the student’s skills in the four areas (listening, writing, speaking, and reading) tested in the TOEFL. Eureka’s predicted score represents the likely score of the student in the actual TOEFL. This predicted score is very useful especially for those who need to achieve a minimum TOEFL score as a requirement for their college admissions. More importantly, the predicted score also pinpoints specific skills and particular areas of concern that a student must improve on.
In 2011, Thomas Lee, one of Eureka’s TOEFL review students, achieved a perfect score of 120 after three months of rigorous review.
The TOEFL is considered by many as the most comprehensive ACADEMIC English test available.

Scholastic Aptitude/Assessment Test Review (SAT I and SAT II)
The Scholastic Aptitude/Assessment Test (SAT I) and the SAT Subject Tests (SAT II) are standardized tests taken by students who wish to study in foreign universities. These tests evaluate the academic readiness and competency of students bound for American universities although the results can also be used when applying for other non-American universities such as the National University of Singapore, The University of Hong kong, and other reputable universities. Developed and published by The College Board, the SAT aims to measures English literacy in both reading and writing as well as a student’s mathematical ability. The SAT is used by many institutions as an objective measure of a student’s ability although a high score in the SAT is not the sole criterion for admission.
Eureka’s SAT review employs the principle of “learning by doing”. Carefully-crafted exercises are given to students to pinpoint areas of weakness. These areas of weakness are then addressed by tutors who provide exercises that reinforce concepts essential to understanding. Tutors act as raters to give the students a prediction of the score they are likely to get in the actual SAT. Based on the scores of hundreds past students, Eureka’s predicted score is within five (plus minus 5) percent of what students get in the actual SAT. This accuracy is the result of years of extensive exposure and experience of the tutors handling the review.
Eureka has successfully assisted hundreds of students in the Philippines to significantly improve their SAT scores. In 2013, John Lee, one of Eureka’s students registered a perfect SAT score after two months of review while Peter Hyung, gained admission to UC Berkeley after achieving an SAT score that belonged to the 98% percentile of all test takers. Erick Lim achieved an SAT score on the redesigned test higher than the average score obtained by Harvard freshmen.
It can be argued that a student’s SAT score (or ACT) is the biggest factor determining acceptance to elite universities and Ivy League universities.
The Philippines’ Best Universities
Admission to a good university presents advantages. The best universities are known as centers of excellence providing quality training grounds in preparation for the highly competitive “real” world. The admissions committee decides on the basis of a student’s track record in high school and the result of his admission test administered by the university.
Eureka offers tutorials and refresher courses to those who wish to greatly improve their chances of acceptance to the country’s most prestigious universities. Eureka’s REVIEW packages are the most comprehensive programs currently in the market. In addition, Eureka has the HIGHEST PERCENTAGE of PASSERS in the BIG FOUR (UP, ADMU, DLSU, and UST).
Eureka also offers FREE career counseling to students and parents in order to guide them in choosing an undergraduate course in the university. Eureka believes that choosing the right undergraduate course is essential to success and should be decided by both the parent and the student.

Nothing beats the safety and comfort of one's own home. Eureka acknowledges the fact that parents are truly the best tutors to their children. This is the ideal scenario where parents have enough time and knowledge to tutor their kids in their academic works. However, due to the difficulty that parents encounter in dividing their time, especially working parents as well as the rapid changes in academic programs offered by schools, this can be difficult. Eureka offers viable alternatives to cope with the changing times. While Eureka strongly encourages tutorials to be held in academic centers as they provide a more conducive atmosphere for instructions, Eureka recognizes that certain situations do not make on center based tutorials possible. Certain constraints such as time, distance, the lack of means of transportation, and even security issues provide hindrances for students seeking tutorials. In such cases, home based tutorials can be arranged.
We can help students who need tutors to provide academic assistance in their own homes. To better help you contact us to book a tutor.
